Cookie & Browser Storage Policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026

1. What BrainBuzz uses

Brain Buzz uses limited browser storage to provide account access, security, user-requested preferences, offline-capable app features, and privacy choices. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data for advertising.

2. Necessary and functional storage

StoragePurposeTypical duration
authKeeps a signed-in user authenticated and stores the minimum account state needed by the app.Until logout, account state is cleared, or browser storage is deleted.
darkModeRemembers the display theme selected by the user.Until changed or browser storage is deleted.
brainbuzz:privacy-consentRecords an analytics preference so BrainBuzz can honor an opt-out.Up to 180 days, or until the policy version changes.
Application cacheCaches app code, images, fonts, and short-lived API responses for performance and offline-capable features. Account-changing API requests are never cached.Varies by file; outdated caches are removed automatically.

Blocking necessary storage may prevent sign-in, saved preferences, or offline-capable features from working. It is not used for advertising.

3. Aggregate analytics

Brain Buzz loads Cloudflare Web Analytics after you opt in through Privacy Choices. Cloudflare provides aggregate page views, referrers, general browser and country information, and performance measurements. It does not place cookies.

When NUXT_PUBLIC_GA_MEASUREMENT_ID or NUXT_PUBLIC_CLARITY_PROJECT_ID is set, Brain Buzz may also load Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Clarity can record session replays and heatmaps. Signup-funnel events may include the page, role, button location, game name, plan, and an error category. They do not include names, email addresses, account or student IDs, form contents, or puzzle words. Turning analytics off in Privacy Choices stops Clarity, the optional Google Analytics tag, and Cloudflare Web Analytics.

You can turn analytics off without losing access to BrainBuzz and can change your choice at any time. BrainBuzz stores that preference solely to honor your selection.

4. Payments

When a user initiates checkout or manages a subscription, BrainBuzz loads Paddle's payment service. Paddle may use cookies or similar storage needed for checkout, fraud prevention, security, and payment processing. Paddle controls its own payment-domain storage and retention. BrainBuzz does not use Paddle storage for advertising.

5. Browser controls and contact

You can delete or block browser storage through your browser settings, although necessary features may stop working. To ask a privacy question or exercise a privacy right, use the BrainBuzz contact form. See the Privacy Policy for broader information about personal data.
